Perfect Oven Baked Rice Recipe
The first time I tried chef Jason’s rice, I yelled “This rice is amazing - WHAT DID YOU DO TO THIS RICE?!?” It was perfect- full of flavor, and the texture was just right.
I’ve never seen anyone make rice like this before - but TRUST THE PROCESS!
You cook the rice in chicken broth with Thyme on the stove, and then you cover the pot and move it into the oven. This creates a rice-cooker effect. Then you take the rice out of the oven and spread it out on a cookie sheet so that it stops cooking! This is key. While it’s still warm, season to taste with salt and pepper. Life changing!!!
Ingredients:
1 cup long grain rice
2 ¼ cups chicken stock
1 Tbs butter
½ tsp dried thyme or a few springs fresh thyme
Directions:
Alert: the rice starts on the stove top and is finished in the oven.
Add butter and thyme to the chicken stock and bring to a boil over medium high heat. Stir in rice and wait for a rolling boil to resume. Cover the rice and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 20 mins. Grab a flat cookie sheet and line it with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Remove the rice when done and spread it on the flat sheet so it can cool. Sprinkle with kosher salt and fresh cracked pepper to taste.
